An attractive smile always has a place in the society. In the recent past adult orthodontics has become the fastest growing area in the field of Orthodontics. This could be due to increase in awarness of the importance of an aesthetically and functionally healthy dentition . Adults are aesthetically more conscious than children and most of the advancements is directed towards this in the form of aesthetically appealing treatment mechanics and appliances like aesthetic brackets, lingual orthodontics appliances and invisible aligners. Financial independence or improvement in the socioeconomic status they get as an adult also enable them to seek orthodontic treatment . Relapse of childhood orthodontic treatment or discontinuation of treatment during childhood as an co-operative child are also reasons for taking orthodontic treatment as an adult. In a study conducted by Khan and Horrocks2-1, twenty-five per cent of adult patients were found to have a history of previous orthodontic treatment. Need for interdisciplinary management is also a reason for orthodontic treatment in adults.
