Nelson Mandela was a South African activist who was born in 1918, and was elected to be the first black president of South Africa in 1994 as stated in History. com. Nelson was a member in the South African government. Nelson was always devoted to peace and social justice until his death. Nelson has done many great things in his life; he always knew how to fix any problem and knew how to do it without violence. Nelson is a major inspiration to many and is still remembered today because of all he has done. Nelson’s statues and pictures are viewed and honored all over the world. One of many achievements Nelson Mandela has created and was a part of is a Children’s fund that supports children in South Africa with the aim to change the way society treats its children and youth. The youth were never really given the opportunity to say what's on their mind or have anyone listen. That was especially a big problem in South Africa and Nelson didn’t like it. Nelson has always tried to get people to understand that the young are the future so we should listen to them. He wants to help benefit those who don’t really get heard because he feels that they have so much to say. Because of Mandela's funds many talented and smart young South African children get to speak what’s on their mind to show society that they have what it takes to make a change. Another one of Mandela's Achievements that have affected people then and now is his effort to speak
