My Antonia is most definitely a love story and on top of that it is a true story. There is a

constant confusion of Jim with Antonia and Lena. Oddly enough Antonia was four years older

than Jim, making this love connection even more intriguing. On page 30, in the first paragraph

we find out that the drastic age difference often caused conflict between Jim and Antonia. Jim

goes as far as to say he resented her superior tone and protecting manner. On the other hand, on

page 172 we see just how fast Lena and Jim begin their love connection.
