Mother Teresa: Server of the Poor "To this love for one another and today when I have received this reward, I personally am most unworthy, and I having avowed poverty to be able to understand the poor, I choose the poverty of our people," (Mother Teresa- Acceptance Speech). Mother Teresa said this during her acceptance speech to declare how devoted she was to the poor. She created a missionary for helping the poor and she worked all of her life to give the poor food and assistance. She would receive awards from other charities and donations, but she would give the money to the poor along with everything she had. Mother Teresa would proclaim the word of God, speak up for the innocent unborn children, and support the poor with the power of …show more content…
She was not satisfied, however, because she felt that she wasn't doing all she could for the poor, so she renounced her vows and became Sister Teresa again. Later she had to start her own Missionary named the Missionary of Charity and be called Mother Teresa again. The Missionary of Charity would, "...give housing and food to the poor and help start the new Missionaries," (Tilton 45). She would feed the sick and dying children who were on the streets of India, and give them a house to live under. As the Missionary of Charity grew older, it gained many women to help the poor, but Mother Teresa also gained awards along with money to build a village of houses for the poor. She felt the need for more help with the poor, so she formed a Missionary for the brotherhood which would be lead by a man named Brother Andrew. Later, the ministry became an international order, so they were directly connected with the pope. Because they were an international order they could, "now open missions outside of their own country," (Tilton 62). Mother Teresa gave examples of her experiences with the poor, like the instance where she gave bread to a poor child, but the child broke it in two and gave some to another poor person even though the child was hungry. She then shared how she felt about her experiences, and how she was surprised that the hungry person could still give up food for another hungry person. She explained the importance of loving one another, especially the poor and the aborted children. Finally, she closed her speech by sharing her hope for the world and that she wished to bring prayer into all homes, so people can gain the courage to protect the unborn children, and the
