Archaeological findings at Masada does not support the claims made by Josephus, of there being nine hundred and sixty Sicarii that committed mass suicide. As three skeletons were found on the “lower terrace of the northern palace and twenty-five in a cave on the southern slope of the cliff” and no other remains have been found. However, it would seem that Josephus claims, maybe true as the excavation conducted at Masada have found that new structure were constructed, as well as alternation done to some building at the time the Sicarii took control of Masada.
