More than 50 million girls around the world face the dilemma of not being allowed a basic education. Malala Yousafzai is one of these girls. She began speaking out publicly against the Taliban who was attacking girl’s schools in Swat, Pakistan. She began to gain more publicity with her speeches and blogs. At the age of 14 Malala was targeted by the Taliban who shot her in the head on the way home from school. Malala survived the attack and has become even more vocal for women’s and children’s rights.
