Lahaina is a community full of cultural and historical significance. It was once known as the “Kingdom of Hawaii” from 1820 through 1845. In the Hawaiian language, Lahaina means “cruel sun” which suits the description of the climate, which is sunny and dry. It is a popular tourist destination with many activities to offer, from the abundance of restaurants, shows and boat tours. The community provides most of the essentials needed to live here. It has plentiful of parks located in almost every neighborhood, community resources near town, and recreation centers. Lahaina is very ethnically diverse, but has a strong Asian influence. It can be felt throughout the community that it is close-knit.
