The obstacles he had was being being discriminated against, because he was African american. At his school he was often harassed by fellow white peers. Another obstacle he had was competing at the Olympics in Berlin. At the time Berlin was was under Hitler's control, Hitler thought the the olympics would prove his theory that the Aryan racial superiority.
