In 2014, one of my favorite director of all time, Christopher Nolan, released a scientifically accurate science-fiction film, Interstellar, worldwide. A film about a team of space explorers’ travel through a wormhole as an attempt to save the humanity. A year before film’s release, an intriguing teaser video was posted on YouTube that highlighted our achievements related with space such as spacewalk and moon landing which ended with a short clip from the film showing Matthew McConaughey’s character, Cooper, driving away from a house in tear and a spaceship flying away. The teaser was very mysterious making me want to know what happened and being aware of Christopher Nolan’s style got me waiting with anticipation for a year till it was finally released. Few weeks after the film became available to view in movie theaters, I went to see it with my friends, Jack and Mickey, in Sheepshead Bay unknowingly that it would become the best movie theater experience of my entire life. …show more content…

Over the course of two hours and forty-nine minutes, we viewed an epic space adventure filled with masterpiece composition from Hans Zimmer, amazing acting, surprising cameo, twists, insane practical effects and CGIs, and an ending that scrambled my brain. Throughout the entire film, we got emotionally connected with Cooper as we viewed him struggle through the journey for the sake of humanity and come out

I have chosen the Andromeda constellation as my favorite because I have always loved the story of Andromeda. The constellation is named after Princess Andromeda, bride of Perseus from Greek mythology. She was used as a sacrifice to save her kingdom from a dreaded sea monster sent by Poseidon. She was rescued by Perseus who slew the beast. In mythology, Andromeda was the daughter of Cepheus and Cassiopeia, king and queen of the North African kingdom of Aethiopia.…

The Space Race began with the launch of Sputnik, and from then on it did nothing but heat up. The launch of Sputnik did give the Soviets a lead, but The U.S. quickly answered back with the expedited launch of their satellite, the Explorer 1. Now that the U.S. had realized that they were behind, they began making major strides in the field of space exploration. The first change that thy made was creating the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and immediately after creating the Mercury program that had the goal to put a human into orbit. The Soviets made good use of their lead, though, and in April, 1961, they put the first person (Yuri Alekseyevich) into orbit aboard Vostok 1.…

JJ Abrams is a very popular director in today's cinema and widely considered as an auteur. He has helped rejuvenate the Sci-Fi genre in many ways. First off if you have seen any of JJ Abrams movies or TV series’s they all have one major similarity which is; whatever you think is going to happen next, something entirely different will happen, as the case in Lost. Also all of JJ Abrams work have been strongly character driven something that doesn’t always appear in movies, especially in the Sci-Fi genre where they often just try to bombard us with new futuristic effects. He has also been quoted saying: “It’s important for the characters to be in the center…”[1], and how he always ‘prefers to focus more on character development rather than focusing on the action and big explosions’ [2].…
