Interior Design and Staging In this research, six aspects about Interior Design and Staging include the Origin of interior design, interior design and staging, designing process, education and training, professional organization, and my mentor information. Basically the history of interior design is quite uncertain. According to the article “Interior Design History”, “Nobody really knows for sure how the history of interior design first begin though you can easily imagine that the rich and wealthy right through the annals of history has always wanted their homes well decorated and filled with exotic furniture” (1). A professional interior designer must have an education and some training to be successful. In contrast, Ball quotes, “Profession differs from a vocation by requiring education and an ethical standard for operation” (83). The difference between a profession and a vocation is that a profession requires more education. With a bachelor degree, a person can acquire an entry-level position and be an apprentice designer. If the person wants to progress, he can apply for two to four more years then graduates to be an assistant to interior designers (“Interior designers” 3). In order to be employed, a designer must have a license. The designer will to take the state examination and pass it to qualify (Ball 128). The designer must have at least six years of experience and education in an addition of two years of post-secondary education to be eligible for a license (“Interior design” 3). After, the designer applies to a school placement office; he must present his resume and get ready for an interview (Ball 71).
Moreover, the designer must establish a contract. Ball comments, “A contract is a legal agreement between producer and the receiver, and it generally applies whether in a written or verbal form” (93). A contract is a verbal or written covenant between two people. In the interior design industry, there are three types of contract: the contract firms, contract work, and the contract design (Ball 94). Ball
