Research Paper On Ibatiba

I doubt the world would mourn the town of Ibatiba if it suddenly vanished into nothingness. Yet, this small speck on this pale blue dot we live on had anything but a small impact on me. Growing up my sister and I would tease that Ibatiba, my mom's hometown back in Brazil, had more gas stations than businesses and more cows than cars. Despite Ibatiba being seemingly inconsequential, the close-knit community of incredibly lively, jovial, and vibrant individuals who reside there skewed my perception of life, fueling my desire to connect with people from every colorful culture and gave rise to a myriad of my passions. On 7/16/12 I met my eccentric family. Only seconds after hauling our luggage up to my grandmas apartment, we were assaulted with kisses and hugs as hoards of faces stampeded us, beaming from ear to ear. The next two months was a blur spent exploring the …show more content…
I grew generous with my attention, and embraced their philosophy that a stranger is just a friend you have not met yet. I arrived starved for genuine human connection, and left craving more of it. I appreciate these spirited souls for splashing color back into my increasingly grey and mundane world. The brevity of life was well understood there, prompting me to refuse to let existence be anything short of exhilarating. I’m thrilled for my next grand adventure: obtaining a degree and satisfying my thirst for knowledge, a feat nobody in my family has yet had the opportunity of achieving. After that who knows where my restless mind will take me. Maybe i'll explore every corner of this vast planet and its colorful cultures, or something else entirely. Despite the uncertainty, one truth remains evident: I’ll be ever present in this ever busy life, finding meaning in this reality by cultivating my passion and love for humanity in all my future

Impetigo is a infection of the skin that can be easily transmitted and it forms crusty sores after the blisters detonate. Both impetigo and scabies, which are easily transmitted skin pathogens, are found in moist or tropical places, comparable to tinea capitis and tinea pedis. The tinea impetigo often forms as pustule, a small pimple-like dot that eventually transforms into a blister and ruptures after that. Symptoms of impetigo and also scabies include blisters, pus-filled sores and in some cases dermatitis. A physician is able to diagnose a person just by looking at their skin, however, some tests such as fungal scraping, to have a deeper understanding of how severe the patient's case it.…

The society of Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire functions quite differently than that of the United States. The economy in this city focuses on the bluff, which is an attempt to deceive people into thinking that they are modern and successful. In his article, Dr. Sasha Newell explains that “the impossible demands of maintaining a deceptive appearance of success” hinders the economy, and puts extra stress on citizens because of the need to lie and keep up a façade (Newell, 2009: 379). This article is an example of how gender roles take place in societies, and shows the effects, good and bad, that they can have. Dr. Newell uses examples from his time spent living in Abidjan, including stories told by his friends, to support his thesis.…

Schnarch: Becoming a Self As I inquire about what it takes to become a satisfied woman, I am discovering satisfaction comes from within and it requires an individual to have a strong core self. From a developmental perspective, Dr. David Schnarch explores the process of the emerging self in his book Intimacy & Desire. He writes about the importance of developing a solid flexible self rather than relying on others to make you feel okay. He thinks the first emerged self was a “reflected sense of self” meaning a self that is reliant on feedback from others.…

There are approximately 397,000 children in foster care in the United States of America currently and I used to be one of them. However, foster had not even been near the forefront of my mind that summer. The summer before I started my first year of high school, I had plenty of anxiety about the tall tale I invented in my own mind that stood before me. Stories about how hard high school were numerous and often regaled on the crowded bus ride home by high schoolers who seemed to have the knowledge of every wise teacher in history combined. which that scared me to death; I had always held my position as a good student who followed the rules of my middle school.…
