Hurricane Hugo Hurricane Hugo is a hurricane that did a lot of damage, but barely anybody knows about it. A hurricane is when cold air and hot air mix together. Hurricane Hugo included many details common to hurricanes and caused damage and destruction to properties and lives that affected the region, but the area has recovered in its aftermath. Hurricane Hugo had many common details. 13 people in South Carolina, 1 person in North Carolina, 6 people in Virginia, and 1 person in New York passed away. It was responsible for over 100 deaths in the U.S. and in the Caribbean. It happened around midnight on September 22, 1989.
