The morphology of the proximal femur after healed Perthes disease is the single most important factor predicting the long-term outcome. [9, 14, 20] Typically, the deformities include a high-riding greater trochanter, a short femoral neck, and an aspherical femoral head-neck junction. Complex deformities of the proximal femur can cause both intra-articular and extra-articular femoro-acetabular impingement, which can lead to degenerative hip pain, restricted range of motion, and impaired abductor function. Genu varum is a condition that causes the lower leg to angle medially and produce an outward appearance at the knee. It can cause one or both legs to form a slightly visible projection that creates an image similar to an archer’s bow, therefore the term “bowlegged” is often used. Every baby is born bowlegged because of the way they sit in the womb, although it does not become noticeable until the early stages of walking. This is considered normal until 18 months of age, but usually by the time a child is 3 years old, much of the cartilage in the legs have become bones and have fused together to support the weight of the toddler causing the legs to straighten; although, sometimes even after this allotted time period the bowed presentation of the leg is still apparent and is not considered normal and is a usual sign of much greater problems.…

Vitamin D works to increase calcium and phosphate levels, two key ingredients in bone formation, by increasing absorption from the intestines and the kidney.
