Henry Wadsworth Longfellow was born on February 27, 1807. His father was a lawyer and he was supposed to follow in his footsteps and become a lawyer also. He went to college to become a lawyer. Then he went to Europe where he found his love for poetry in Germany. In 1839 he published his first poetry thing Hyperion. He met his second wife Frances in Europe where his first wife dies but then he found Frances while he was traveling after. They got married in 1843. Frances father gave them a house as a wedding present. That house was called the Craigie House. Now this house is used as a museum. Henry died in Cambridge, Massachusetts on March 24, 1887. He was the first American whose head sculptor was put in the Poet’s Corner in London.
