Guns Don’t Kill People, But People Kill People
Us as americans we are a gun culture. in 2009 about 124 million people lived in households owned a total of 270 million guns. So that means that we are obsessed with guns. But the question now is: what do we know about guns? how many of us actually used one or seen a gun that being used? How many of us seen people pointing a gun at each other or seen someone actually killing other? How many people actually used a gun to defend himself? The truth is most people have a very little experience with guns or actually used one. Even the majority of police officer never had the chance to use a gun to defend themselves. So what really should be done by the government or the people toward this controversial issue that now most of americans are concerned about?
Second Amendment: Is our civilization being threatened ?
The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution states that : "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed”.
According to the book Gun Control in the United States: A Reference Handbook ``authors seeing no constitutional problems associated with gun control emphasized that the original aim of the Second Amendment was to guarantee the right of the states to form their own militias and that no personal right to keep and bear arms was intended``.
