Religion, what is religion? We all have different opinions, we also have different religions we believe in. Do you believe in Christianity, do you believe in Hinduism, or do you believe in the Greek religion? No matter what, most of us believe in something. The Greek religion is a religion that has multiple Gods, most religions just have one. The greek religion also has ritual. They also have a after life. Greek religion is a special religion for how many Gods they have, and each God does a certain skill or power they have. THE GODS:
Each God has there own abilities, and also have their own personification. The most important Gods were the Olympian Gods, they were led by Zeus. These were Athena, Apollo, Poseidon, Hermes, Hera, Aphrodite, Demeter, Ares, Artemis, Hades, Hephaistos and Dionysos. These Gods were given human bodies, and characteristics. They can be bad or good. As ordinary people they have children and marry. The gods would become patrons of cities, and were called upon for certain situations. Such as Ares for war and Hera for weddings. All the gods have a certain role to play, the gods are there to keep everything in check or just in case somethings happens. …show more content…
Over time the temples were made for particular Gods, and they usually housed a cult statue of the deity. The most famous statue is Zeus in Olympian, but over time there was a whole complex of temples to lesser gods could spring up around the main temple, which made this a large complex of temples. They would usually sacrifice sheep, pigs, goats, and cows, and always the same sex as the god they are sacrificing
