Attention Gretter: For the past 20 years, GMO’s have been increasingly introduced on our diet. According to Nonprojectgmo, more than 80% of food we find in supermarkets is GMO’s. But what is GMO? It’s food that has been Genetically Modified and cannot be found in nature. That is, processed foods, fruits and vegetables grown with pesticides, and bioengineered food. In more than 60 countries around the world, there are significant restrictions or outright bans on the use of GMO’s because these foods are known to cause cancer, diabetes and others. Unfortunately, the American government approved GMO’s, based on a research conducted by the same corporation that created them. Even worst, there is no law that requires labeling on GMO foods and most …show more content…
The food industry, the medical industry and the healthcare system are all one organization that see disease as profit.
Second: GMO’s can cause serious health problems. Since they use chemicals that our body cannot fully digest, it can cause change in DNA and change in our body’s normal environment.
Third: Since GMO’s are cheaper and faster to produce, the demand is big; therefore, more people can afford buying food. But the amount of food we end up wasting is immense.

The idea of it sounds really promising and it sure helped to diminish hunger in many places over the world. After GMO was introduced, the number of households affording food skyrocketed. Although there are researches from responsabletechonoly.org saying the use of GMO’s is safe; the use of pesticides, hormones and antibiotics have been increasingly making us sick and more vulnerable to diseases. There are a couple of issue to take in consideration: First, these products can cause food allergies that have never been an issue for consumers. If you have never had allergy to milk and drink milk full of antibiotics, your body can create resistance to it and you end up allergic to milk, although only few cases have been registered. Second, it has increased toxicity. Natural foods have a low toxicity level that is processed and digested by our bodies, but with high toxic levels our immune system gets vulnerable and week because the toxics can’t be metabolized. Third, the nutritional value of GMO’s is not the same. There is a significant lower amount of nutrients. An example would be soybeans that naturally have a mineral called phytoestrogen and helps to protect against cancer and heart diseases. But GMO’s have low levels of this mineral; therefore, our bodies are not efficient combating these diseases. And lastly, antibiotic resistant which plays a huge roll.
