It is assumed that Giuseppe Arcimboldo was born in 1527 Milan, Italy but there is not much information about his childhood. We do know, that he was the son of Biagio, who was also a painter from Milan and an archbishop. Arcimboldo’s first job was when he was 21 years old working with Giuseppe Meda making stained glass windows for local churches. In 1562 he had become the the court artist for Ferdinand I. He then worked for a second family including Maximilian II and Rudolf II. Arcimboldo was known for having an eccentric personality which during the Renaissance was uncommon of for artists and why he is often referred to as a mannerist painter. The mannerist was a transitional period that connected humans with nature.
