Your goals need to be realistic enough that achieving them is possible, but challenging enough so that they warrant a desirable amount of effort and motivation to achieve them. In other words, they should not be easy to achieve, but also not impossible. The ideal set of goals need to be “task oriented” in that they focus on performing many small, short term tasks in order to achieve a larger, long-term goal. Their also needs to be some element of feedback in an optimal goal setting scenario. You need something to track your progress over time, which is why breaking your goals down into smaller, task-oriented achievements, will sustain your motivation over the course of the entire process. You also need to set “approach goals” which focus on achieving desired outcomes, instead of a negative focus on avoiding undesirable …show more content…
Then, I would help them to develop a step by step plan to achieve their fitness goals, with an emphasis on smaller, more easily achievable goals that they can check off on a daily basis. This emphasis on smaller task goals will foster an increased sense of motivation and help each client to track their progress daily in terms of their own “goal checklist”. I would use the task goal orientation to set goals so that each client can focus on being better than they were the previous session. This helps would help clients to track their progress, and allow them to see their own progression in comparison to their previous performances. If they believe that they are in competition with only themselves, then they will be less likely to compare their progress to others around them, thereby reducing feelings of dissatisfaction with their own personal fitness

In Salem, Virginia football is a way of life. Every Friday night at 7 a clock around eight to nine thousand people pile in to Salem Stadium. Salem prides itself on tradition and doing everything in a formal and old-school way which is why I think Salem is the perfect discourse community. These are the nights that we remember, those Friday night-lights; I will never take them for granted.…

By dividing your goal into several, smaller goals, you will find it easier to motivate yourself, since you will not feel overwhelmed by the size of your goal and the things you have to do. This will also help you feel that the goal is more feasible, and easier to accomplish. Make your goal very clear.…

Primarily, a goal's effectiveness is affected by three factors; specificity, proximity, and difficulty. An ideal goal has the characteristic of presenting a condition where the time between the initiation of behavior and a successful outcome is close in time. Furthermore, individuals need to be empowered to set their own goals instead of just responding to those goals set by the organization.…
