“Eleven of Indiana’s forty-four solved cases were caused by noroviruses, the most common cause of foodborne illness.” (“Indiana Gets an F for Foodborne Illnesses”). Fast food is a huge part in most American’s daily life. Most of us eat fast food at least 3-5 times a week. Foodborne illnesses are a problem in our community and country. Many foodborne illnesses are spreading in the United States (US). “Centers for Disease Control (CDC) estimates that each year roughly 1 in 6 Americans (or 48 million people) get sick, 128,000 are hospitalized, and 3,000 die of foodborne diseases,” states CDC. “The 2011 estimates provide the most accurate picture yet of which foodborne bacteria, viruses, microbes ("pathogens") are causing the most illnesses in the United States, as well as estimating the number of foodborne illnesses without a known cause,” (“CDC Estimates of Foodborne Illness in the United States”). People are getting affected from the illness. This could be another one to watch out for in what Americans eat. …show more content…
