The two mindsets are different because they cause emotions on how they view the world. If a student would have a love and passion for science but they are good in civics and law then mostly their parents would push them to because a lawyer because that makes money and is what they are good at. So in this case this student may be emotionally upset but they have a fixed mindset that if they don't become a lawyer then they wouldn't make money and money is needed to be happy. Growth mindset is when people believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work, brains and talent are just the starting point.
