Fenrir, “The Unbound” is a monstrous wolf and one of three children of, The Trickster God, Loki and Angrboða. When Fenrir was born, he was taken care of by the Aesir gods (gods living in Asgard) and was growing up a fast pace. When Fenrir reached a certain age, the gods has ordered the dwarves to smite the most powerful fetter (chains) named Gleipnir. It is made from six magical ingredients which is the sound of cat’s feet, roots of a mountain, a bear’s sinews, a woman’s beard, a fish’s breath, and a bird’s spit. Fenrir was curious about this when the gods has offered it to him so in good faith, Fenrir requested for one of the gods to stick their hands in Fenrir’s mouth. Tyr, “The Lawgiver”, was the only brave god to do so and once acted upon, the gods wrapped Gleipnir around Fenrir’s mouth. Out of anger, Fenrir ripped Tyr’s hand off and Fenrir’s mouth was remained closed until Ragnarök or doomsday. Time and Asgard itself was ripped when Fenrir broke free and Fenrir consumed Odin and 2/3 sons Sköll and Hati. After so, he consumed the sun and moon thus destroying time and the stars. After all these events, Odin’s 3rd son, Víðarr, killed Fenrir and shortly after worlds of Asgard would be destroyed and new worlds would replace it. …show more content…
Dating all the way back to 10th and 11th century, people of Iceland and Norway has used Fenrir in their poetry, but under various names. The origins of Fenrir has been from Scandinavia and Norway. Sadly, Fenrir has not appeared in performing
