Hemingway was born in Oak Park, Illinois, on July 21, in 1899 (Young). He was the son of Clarence Edmonds Hemingway, and Grace Hall Hemingway. He attended public schools in his childhood, and really started to write a lot in high school, where he was an active and outstanding student (Young). After Hemingway graduated high school, he decided not to go to college, but instead he traveled down to Kansas City. He would look for truth both in his works, but also in his personal life. A strong belief that he had is if he could see himself clearly and whole, than maybe it would benefit others in the world (Ernest M. Hemingway).
