Dry needling is a relatively new way to treat myofascial pain in the US. Myofascial pain is characterized by “trigger points” that can cause long-term pain and dysfunction, along with referred pain. A small needle is inserted directly into the muscle tissue, which creates a lesion in the tissue and may cause a twitch response in the muscle.
