A long time ago, DisneyLand used to be the most popular children’s amusement park in the world, but things have changed since then. Then, it all came crashing down, and DisneyLand was abandoned and forgotten in history. It all started because of one peculiar ride, Small World. Small World was a children’s ride where you ride in a wooden boat along the water. Small to-like animatronics would pop up and dance and sing. Despite the long line, children enjoyed this ride so much until, August 10th 2003. When DisneyLand had its official grand opening, it released Small World as one of its rides. Animatronics don’t move.” At this point Rohn thought he might be going crazy, but outside the window of his oddly-smelling booth he saw a creepy, smiling animatronic staring at him. The animatronic looked like a little boy holding a balloon, but half of his face was scratched off which revealed a metal endoskeleton. It had a frightening, huge grin on it’s face made out of metal. As soon as Rohn saw it he immediately closed the door, but it was still outside staring at him with its dead, soulless eyes. Rohn turned off all the lights and curled up in a ball in the corner of the room. About 1 hour later he turned on all the lights, and found nothing was there. When he checked the CCTV he found a man hurling up dead children and stuffing them inside a box. Blood was gushing and oozing out of the box. Disgusted and in disbelief, Rohn realized that he had a portable charger in his pocket. He hastily plugged it in. The problem was that it was extremely low on battery and after it finished charging he had 5% left. He quickly dialed 911 and begged that the building had network. He heard a click and a “hello?” a wave of relief washed over Rohn as he

He quickly came up with the idea of creating an amusement park, which would satisfy both children and adults’ imagination and love of fantasy. This idea was put on hold through the Second World War, but eventually came to life on July 17th 1955, and would be known as Disneyland. This was one of Walt Disney’s most magical and personal projects, but it was conceived during an ambiguous and puzzling time of the American history. While some scholars believe that the amusement park is a place allowing individual choice and personal transformation through one’s imagination, others opted for a more cynical view, seeing a degree of consensual control and surveillance at the heart of its creation. Disneyland was not only an incredible success, but, during a time plagued by the nuclear scare and a communist threat, it became a beacon of hope, fun and adventure for the American…

Case Study 2 : Glocalisation of Hong Kong Disneyland Through the dynamics of incorporation and adaptation of the global Disney culture with the Hong Kong culture, Hong Kong Disneyland was relatively successful in entering the Chinese market.
