Research Paper On Desterbia

Desterbia, one of the better films that I’ve seen in a long time. Is also a go to movie that I use to show a nice light to thriller transition in films. I believe is up there with some of my favorite movies. I have high ratings for it, but many other reviewers think otherwise. On rotten tomatoes, it was rated a 69/100. That is something that I really don’t agree with. This film has great transition between genres, and it does it well. I believe is better than it is credit for. Desturbia is set in a suburban neighborhood very peaceful and quiet. The story follows the main character Kale, that recently lost his father, and he hasn’t really coped with it that much. He gets sentenced several months on house arrest for punching his teacher for saying something about his father. To relieve the boredom, he starts spying on his neighbors as a sort of entertainment since everything was taken from him, like electronics and other things. From doing this he meets the girl that happened to move in next door, and they get close. On the other hand, he suspects that his other neighbor might be a serial …show more content…
The transiton from comedy to thriller is really done well. I liked the whole young teen acting like a teen that went on was really nice, and also the mystery about the neighbor next door. An intriguing part about it is that you can mistake it for a romance/comedy if you’ve never seen the trailers for it, and if haven’t you’ll never see the twist later. Really didn’t expect much about before I watched it, but I was wrong because it was good. The characters are well fleshed out specially the main character. By just the relationship that he had with his dad and him passing away the way he did, we can understand why he’s persistent on figuring out this serial killer. Very strong development for the supporting characters like the girl and Kale’s friend. All around good acting

The first act primarily gave a background on how those townsfolk settled on Oklahoma Territory. It also illustrated Curly’s pursuit of Laurey, and Ado Annie’s love triangle. The second act was the true execution of everybody’s motives. Curly defeats Jud and wins Laurey over and Will Parker finally earns back $50 to take Ado Annie as his wife. I think the rhythm was smooth and cohesive.…

It begins by describing what a favela is, which I am glad it does because this is a term that I have never heard of before. This film discusses what life is like in Brazil and goes through different slums in Brazil. It was made to inform and show people what the slums were like in Brazil and to give the audience a glimpse of what life is like for them.…

Ethan Hawke delivers a good performance as a true-crime author moving into a crime-scene house to write his latest book. He gets more than he bargained for when he discovers a box of "home movies" in the attack and things soon become very creepy. As with all movies you need to suspend your disbelief somewhat to enjoy Sinister, but it remains tense throughout and there are a couple of good scares. The quality of this blu ray release is excellent and it also includes a couple of very nice bonus features to keep you entertained after the credits have rolled. If you are a fan of the genre then you will enjoy Sinister.…
