10. Before the war, farmers produced just enough food for their families and their businesses. But during the war there was an increased demand for farm products, so farmers went out and took loans to buy more land. The problem after the war was farm business went back to normal and farmers were left with extra-unneeded land and lots of debt. Many of the farmers then were thrown in jail due to failing to pay back their debts.
