The first one says, “Do you believe that on their social media profiles, other people make themselves look happier, more attractive and more successful than they really are?”, 76% of people said ‘Yes’, 17 % of people said ‘No’, and 7% of people ‘Do not know/or Refused’. The second question says, “Do you believe your social media profile reflect what you are really like?”, 78% of people said ‘Yes’, 17% of people said ‘No’, and 7% of people ‘Do not know/or Refused’. It is a contradiction in the feedback of those two question, obviously, it is not a problem with who makes the survey, the contradiction is the people who answer the questions. The 76% of people said in the first question that the people is only showing good things, happy moments/ or fake happy moments. The survey shows that the majority of people believe that the profiles in social media do not show the reality of each individual. In the other hand, the 78% of the people said in the second question that their profiles reflect genuinely how their lives look like. The contradiction is that people believe their profiles are real, that everything is on show the true about themselves; however, they do not believe that the other profiles show the true. The 60% of people said ’No’, and the 38% of the people said ‘Yes’. I think the 60% of people who said ‘No’, It is because they feel miserable when they check social media, and see others having great times while they are probably in bed. We forget to live the present, we always ponder the future, or worse we think about the past; however, not in retrospection, we think about the past how it was better than today, and the future trying to imitate others lives. In consequence, that make us depressed people. Also, social media is flooded of advertising. Teenagers and young adults are a ‘WANNABES’, they try to be like someone else or to fit in with a particular group of people; for example, they want to have a Ferrari, go to Maldives for vacations, have expensive stuff.
