When most of the time, being yourself is the best thing to be in this cruel world. In today's society, everyone is so into trying to fit into the well known “popular crowd “. Others seem to be quiet and very self-centered, most are frightened to show their true colors and express who they really are; due to the fear of being rejected.

Society wants us to be different but not to different . Not to the point to where it starts to become a challenge . Have you ever been jealous of a person? It's because you want to be the way they are and you're envious at the fact that you aren't . That's how society works . They root for you to be different but when you're too good at it they start dragging you down and calling you names . I personally feel like that's the cause of lots of hate now a days. People dont like when others are too unique . But at the same time they don't like when people follow a certain crowd or trends . It's basically a double negative . And I'm not completely sure if anything is ever going to stop it . People are mean. And hate is growing . I believe that if we start excepting people for who they are rather than telling them who they should be the world would be a much happier place

In most cases, however, standing out from the crowd as an individual and daring to go against the grain of society is a very hard thing to do. Society trusts those that conform, and distrusts those that that don’t. By conforming to society's expectation, you gain trust from the society. A disadvantage to conforming to society is when you join the group, you’re technically no longer your own individual. George S. Patton once said, “If everyone is thinking alike, then sobody isn’t thinking.” It’s like you’re a sheep, and when you conform to society's beliefs, you join the rest of the herd.…

Survey shows that an immense amount of Americans believe that being unique and standing out is more valuable than fitting in. To be more precise, 83% of people surveyed believe this to be true. Personally I didn’t find these results to be that shocking because as a society we push people to be uniquely themselves so often. If you were to google the term ‘inspiring quotes’ majority of those quotes are centered around the beauty of standing out. We’ve been brainwashed to believe that standing out is better than fitting in without fully understanding the benefits of the latter.…

Conformity is when your behaviours or beliefs are influence by those who are around you. It is when you change an aspect of yourself in order to fit in with a group. An example of this would be you swear more when you are in a rebellious group at school, or when you are in class and everybody answers a question with what you originally thought was the wrong answer, however you agree with them so you don’t stand out, or when you are talking about a recent event in the news, say a murder, and the group that you are associating yourself with all believe it was said person, however you believe otherwise, you still go along with the group you are in.
