The legalization of medical marijuana across multiple U.S States is an indication of why there is so much noise around cannabis. Evidence from scientific studies, clinical trials, and anecdotal stories has demonstrated the vast potential benefits of cannabis, and particularly, the cannabinoids cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in treating a wide range of ailments. This study shows that the cancerous tumor is not the major issue itself when addressing metastatic cancer, but the gene Id-1, that should be inactive awakens and causes the cancer to spread. CBD could prove an effective inhibitor, blocking the Id-1 gene, and thus, the proliferation of cancer cells throughout the body. This is only the beginning study, and with more research on cannabis and metastatic cancer, a stronger body of evidence will validates CBD’s effectiveness as a possible treatment
