Symptoms
The symptoms of binge eating disorder are different form bulimia, because an individual with bulimia would cope with overeating by doing something like vomiting or taking laxatives. An individual with binge eating disorder is likely to be obese or overweight. One of the main symptoms of binge eating disorder is eating large amounts of food in a certain amount of time. That amount of time would be called an episode. A person may have multiple episodes per week or even many episodes per day. It is seen from a cognitive perspective because of the mental psychological issues such as; “over-evaluation of weight and shape, negative body image, core beliefs about self-worth, negative self-evaluation and perfectionism” (Connecting feelings, 2015). It is seen from a behavioral perspective because of the physical issues that are caused.
