The Aten interrelates closely with some of the modern world’s most popular monotheistic religions. Damen (Akhenaten and Monotheism, 2013) agrees with his approach, maintaining that “Hebrews came into contact with the aten and from that caught the monotheism bug, or even heard about the belief in only one god.” This suggests that Akhenaten’s religion circulated to nearby regions, influencing their religions whilst they were creating their own belief structures. Proof of this influence is the Bible’s Psalm 104 which shares multiple similarities with the Amarna culture’s ‘Hymn to the Aten’ as Harmon…

What my husband's advancement to Chief Petty Officer means to me? The answer of that question could be 10 pages long or I could just resume what I feel in one word, "extremely proud", well I guess two words. I met Christian 16 years ago, he was full of energy, funny, and he had the ability to turn any sad or bad situation into a joke making everybody laugh; that is what make me fell in love with him. On the other hand, he was a little immature, unfocused when it comes to work, and nothing seemed to fulfill his expectations. I always knew that his passion was a career in the military, but that was out of question in my book!…
To believers, the African religion is strong and steadfast – possessing the power to help those in need, and provide strength to the weak. The tools of Ogun and Ocosi are powerful representations of the religion, and its meaning within the lives of believers. Ogun, the god of blacksmith, is a strong, muscular, and serious spirit symbolized by iron, whereas Ocosi is the god of hunting. Ocosi is a just, ambitious, and familial spirit symbolized mostly by a bow and arrow. The tools of these gods symbolize the African religion because they represent the strength each god possesses.…
In Icelandic culture, Christianity seemed to be a stabilizing force. The people didn’t have much in terms of something that was unifying and held the culture together which was why they were living in a constantly changing landscape. Both Egil’s Saga and Njal’s Saga have some illustrations of this idea and give us a clue as to why Christianity acted as a stabilizing force for their ways of life. When a people are unified under one belief or set of laws or a general way of life, it becomes much easier to remain stable and out of much internal conflict—it’s just logic and the nature of things.…

African American Christianity beliefs contain some Christian elements. However, African-American Christianity is primarily African. Although some might say that it contains both, it is mainly African because of the fashion in which the African-Americans created their religion. It is primarily African because they separated themselves from Christians and made African-American Christianity their own. According to the lecture, during the 19th century slaves did not become Christians, but they fashioned their faith from the cultural resources that they were given.…
This paper will cover the Vikings’ religion, from being thought of as Pagans, to converting to Christianity, it will also include their deities and other beliefs. The Vikings, also referred to as the Norse, were thought of being Pagans because of their traditions but they then slowly converted to Christianity after being introduced to it. Even though they were thought of as either Pagans or Christians, they still had their own gods and goddesses and mythology, which is what makes Viking religion really riveting. They have a somewhat complicated and misunderstood religion, although, like most religions, it just changed over time. Vikings as Pagans Not much is known about pagan religious practices in the Viking Age What is known comes from their stories and the references to Pagan gods…
Religion played a vital role in the development of community leadership in the black communities. Black churches existed in the South before the Civil War, but they were under white control. When the war came to an end, many “African American congregations of Methodists, Baptists, Presbyterians, and other sects separated from white ones” (Keene, 415). Often times, these churches were the only places that upheld the idea of freedom. Churches also ran the schools and charities within the communities.…
