Research Paper On Are Athletes Overpaid

Decent Essays
Yes I think athletes are overpaid . One reason why I think that athletes are overpaid is because care makers don’t make that much. Here the average salary for a nurse 70,000 dollars doctors make 187,200 dollars a year. Guess how much sport make 500,000 to 71 million dollars. Even people who risk their life for there country or other people. In the military you paid 55,620 - 62,220 I think that is just crazy. In our society many people have not as much as you think if you parents went to college you get around 140,000 with both your parents. What if you parents went to tech schools you're definitely going to make less than that, you proplay think it is fun be an athlete but believe it or not people don’t make ungot to support a family and

Imagine you are a hardworking doctor or lawyer, and you aren't getting paid the amount you should be. Other people like you who are bettering our community aren't getting paid the amount they should be, and all of your tax money is going towards paying for athletic stadiums. Doctors, teachers, government employees, police officers, firefighters, and lawyers should be receiving the money that athletes receive. Professional athletes provide entertainment for society, but I believe they receive an unreasonable salary. Overall, athletes are overpaid because all they are doing is playing a game to entertain while other more important professions are making much less, they don't contribute to society, there are better places to use the money, and the money received could be used to pay for more useful causes that would benefit our society.…

Athletes get paid way too much when there are other jobs that should be paying the people that much. One reason i feel they are not overpaid is they had earned to be there they had earned to be playing on that field. Also the better you are the more the teams are going to want to pay for you to be on their team. I also know that athletes had injuries that can cost up to $70,000. Like Paul George when he snapped his leg is basketball that costed approximately $65,000 dollars for surgery. One example is Tom Brady he is a 5 time super bowl champ quarterback.…

There are people that argue that college athletes are paid enough by the scholarships that they acquire to the big Universities. They are worth according to Jeffery Dorfman author of “Pay College Athletes? They’re Already Paid Up To $125,000 Per Year” he argues that “a student athlete at a major conference school on full scholarship is likely receiving a package of education, room, board, and coaching/training worth between $50,000 and $125,000 per year depending on their sport and whether they attend a public or private university” (Dorfman). People don’t believe that there should be money going into these athletes pockets because they are on scholarships and that should be enough.…

ollege athletes? This problem has occurred for many years, but has not been this dramatic in the previous years. Keep in mind athletes get scholarships from textbooks, dorms, and tuition. I think that athletes should get paid more than soldiers , because soldiers that do not go on the field and fight get paid more than the soldiers that do be on the field . Let me say that I support the military. Their job is very dangerous, and they sacrifice much so that we can live free. We pay each active duty soldier the same as the poorest football player gets , that would be an total of 579 billion dollars. Military personnel, however, are signing up for a career with the government and receive a wonderful benefits package and fair pair, plus other perks.…

The average American works a little over 40 hours a week, while student athletes spend 43.3 hours working and training. So they work more than the average American yet are not even paid, but they generate millions for their universities. If you believe athletes are being paid in scholarships and their free education, but they are not able to use it to their full promised value because of the requirement of their colleges and the NCAA such as where athletes are not allowed to take more challenging courses which sets up athletes up for failing later in life because a tiny percent of athletes go pro.. “There 's hungry nights where I 'm not able to eat,” said Shabazz Napier, college basketball player for the University of Connecticut who is on an athletic scholarship (Sherman). While his tuition is paid, he cannot afford to eat dinner on occasion. Athletes dedicate all their time into sports and don’t have time for for the essential things like eating. They are isolated from all the regular students and only travel in groups among other athletes. Also, the students rarely see their family and friends.…

For the example of a firefighter and a police officer, they should be paid as much as footballers should be, because they are true honorary heros. Police officers are paid to protect and serve, and firefighters are paid to put out fires. Both of those things are very extraordinary to do. For footballers, they are just paid to kick a soccer ball into a goal which is way too much money as a fact. People that have jobs that save many lives almost to risk their own lives should be paid as much as footballers, but not overpaid.…
