It is the classic theme of everything going wrong and heroes stepping up and saving the day. The different between Apollo 13 and other movies featuring this theme is the location. Everything happened in a spacecraft giving it a different feel compared to other movies with similar themes. The fact it is based on a true story also contributes to its interesting story because it is a literal event in history. It has a clear American bias. This is not to say everyone involved did not perform and impossible task, but the mission went wrong, the ship messed up, we did not even make it to the moon. The movie paints this event as though though the mission was not even accomplished. Another aspect of the movie I enjoyed was the accuracy. Considering the events are literal fact, most movies stretch the facts to make the story work better for the cinema, however Apollo 13 is incredibly accurate. There plenty of small inaccuracies just like any movie, but these are minor inaccuracies whereas overall none of the events are dramatically stretched. Apollo 13 is commonly regarded as one of the most accurate historical movies, and the most accurate movie of a NASA mission. The only things that were really stretched were Mattinglys involvement in the mission, and also some of the fighting between the crew, however these help the movie work better
