Squatina Squatina, the angel shark, is native to Ireland's west coast. Over the years the angel shark has become flatter and flatter due to living in shallow waters. Angel sharks have been overfished and many have been left tangled up in nets to die, leaving the species “critically endangered.” The angel shark has received a case study by the lead of the Irish Wildlife Trust, in a new protection plan for the marine animal. Although recently many of the sharks have been caught and released it puts major stress on the pregnant females.
