In this excerpt, Kev uses stolen alien technology to impress a girl. He is caught in a time loop and is trapped without knowing it. I believe Kev deserves to experience the same moment in time repeatedly for stealing the alien technology. Kev knew what he was doing when he stole the alien technology. Kev stole the alien technology knowing there could be severer life altering consequences. I believe Kev was not concerned with the aftermath of his theft. He was too concerned with the immediate gratification with stealing this life altering technology. Luckily for Kev, he is trapped in a pleasant and enjoyable loop.
