BRAND ANALYSIS 2.1 History
Alexander Lee McQueen, a London born most influential designer of his time, left his school when he was just 16 to join Savile Row where he learned and mastered and pattern making. Not only that but he also had expertise himself in brutally sharp tailoring methods which ultimately became his signature.
Lee McQueen (the real name of Alexander) born in 1969 and right from the age of 3 he started drawing pictures, said by himself in one of his interview that he loved doing it and throughout his whole life. 2.3 Ownership
And the list goes on and on, of his brilliant creations and designs and he got all the glamour and fame in less than 10 years. He was offered to work with Givenchy as Creative head director in 1996, and he did work there till 2001. Although 51% of the Alexander McQueen shares are purchased by Gucci in today’s date, while he was still on the position of creative director.
It might not be believable but this brand is almost 24 years old, and was 18 when Alexander committed suicide one day before his mother’s funeral. Sarah Burton is working with Alexander McQueen since 1996, and has taken the succession so smoothly when McQueen died in 2010. She is now Creative Director at McQueen and handling & supervising the women wear, menswear, accessories and ready to wear
