Research and Ethics Research is undoubtedly the most effective way to answer and prove questionable theories. Without the research of studies and experiments there would be an infinite number of unanswered questions. As researchers we have the responsibility to make certain the research conducted is ethical. Ethical research is imperative as it proves that questions being answered are done so in a manner that is beneficial and does not cause harm to any involved parties. Without ethical research there would be a corrupt system to discover new information. I conduct research on a regular basis at the daycare. Research on what food is preferred by the majority of the students, and what foods contain more nutritional value. I research effective discipline methods, and ways to engage and interact with a preschooler that will interest and educate them. The importance of ethical research is essential to my position. It is my responsibility as a caregiver to protect the best interest of my staff and students. Ethical research helps me to maintain the trust and respect of my employees and families that I work with. I must consider the maximum benefit for everyone I work with, and ethical research is the only option available to me. Ethical research is primarily a benefit to my vocation, but it can be considered a hindrance. Taking the unethical route can be the faster method to find the desired answers. There are circumstances in daycare where reports have to be made to CPS (Child Protective Services) even when it is an innocent occurrence that is common with the age group. For example, it is common for 3 and 4 year olds to be curious about their genitals. If a child is witnessed exposing themselves in public it is required that the staff as mandatory reporters file a report with CPS, even though it would be easier to just let the incident slide than to deal with the follow up and investigations that will follow a
