SELECTING AND LIMITING THE TOPIC

The topic should be manageable for the specific requirements for the paper. If the paper is a report, the topics may be very different from those of an analytical, persuasive or literary analysis. Analytical papers may focus on historical, contemporary, political or ethical aspects of an issue while persuasive papers focus on taking a side of an issue and presenting the arguments for the issue. Literary analysis papers may focus on discussing a literary work’s theme, characters, style, etc. Whatever the type of paper, the topic must be limited and manageable for the requirements of the paper.
