First and foremost, justice needs to be given equally and fairly. The poor are members of the national community equally with the wealthy; we are all one in the same. At times the ranchers would fly their planes over the plantations and spray pesticide while my grandparents and others’ worked. These in fact were the working conditions they endured. Possibly because they didn’t have education. Perhaps because with education, to date, men earn more to the dollar than women. Its’ a number of things. The question posed is whether times have changed. To date, she is seventy-one years old and in twenty years salary has been increased by two dollars. Reason being, her boss felt she should receive a ten cent raise annually. This is the society we live in and continue to embrace unless personally you sacrifice and attend school. My grandparents did not have this opportunity. Presently, grandma receives a small social security check and grandma less than $300 a month. It saddens me that the great county of USA, home of the melting pot has allowed for the poor to remain poor and the rich richer. In my personal opinion this country and our democratic government needs to raise the minimum wage, control unemployment and take care of the deserving people who work tirelessly and do not depend on a welfare system to support them. While this may sound harsh and I may be bias towards a system I do not believe in I know one day I will graduate and not fall victim to this. My grandparents deserve more and so does everyone else who has worked hard all their lives. I would love to see her retire and reap from the benefits of enjoying time with her grandkids but realistically if the system doesn’t change, grandma will work
