John Rutter John Rutter was born in London in 1945. He first studied music as a chorister at Highgate School. He finished his education at Clare College, Cambridge. There he wrote and published his first compositions. He also conducted his first recording while still a student. Some of his larger works include Gloria (1974), Requiem (1985), Magnificat (1990), Psalmfest (1993) and Mass of the Children (2003).
“His compositional career has embraced both large and small-scale choral works, orchestral and instrumental pieces, a piano concerto, two children’s operas, music for television, and specialist writing for such groups as the Philip Jones Brass Ensemble and the King’s Singers”( "John Rutter."). He died Nov.4, 1924 in Paris. He was a composer who influenced the course of modern French music.
Fauré was a prodigy from a very young age. A Swiss composer and teacher, Louis Niedermeyer, heard Gabriel he took him under his wing, he was exceptional. “Fauré studied piano with Camille Saint-Saëns, who introduced him to the music of Franz Liszt and Richard Wagner. While still a student, Fauré published his first composition, a work for piano, Trois romances sans paroles (1863)” (Britannica) Fauré was not really know for being into theatre, but he wrote some music for several plays, including Maurice Maeterlinck’s Pelléas et Mélisande, Prométhée, and Pénélope. He also wrote works for orchestras like Masques et bergamasques. Then he wrote the Messe de requiem for solo voices, chorus, orchestra, and organ. This did not become popular immediately, but now it is one of the most preformed
