“Reputation is the shadow, Character is the tree.” I think what Abraham Lincoln is trying to tell other is that Reputation is what people see, as in the shadow of a tree, but Character is the real thing. For someone to have character, to me, means that that someone does the right thing. Not just in front of others, but when they know no one is watching. Character means someone who shows good morals, motives, and thoughts. I think a great example of that is my Mom. I think that my mom shows great character because she does things for others out of the goodness of her heart, and not just to boost her reputation. She shows that she has great morals and motives, by helping out through her church, job, family, and community. She always puts everybody
