I do not know as much as these psychologists and scientists, but I know for my own personal experience that memories fade over time. I have had some bad experiences, but I cannot explain the full situation. I can recall the memory of what happened, but I cannot explain my surroundings. As the time has passed, I have been forgetting more and more of what happened. I have not been sexually abused as a child, so I could not say they are lying. I do agree that what happens during childhood affects the overall outcome of an adult. I do think the amount of experiences with a situation affect the memory of an individual. For example, a man could lose his wife in a car accident listening to a song. Every time he listens to that song, he will be reminded of his wife's death. This is a way of learning. You can match one object with another in your mind and your mind knows exactly what is going on. You can teach a dog when it is time to eat by ringing a bell every time before you feed him. I kind of agree with both sides on repressed memory because it could happen, but I do not think the correct answer has been given
