Representation Of Ellie

Firstly, I will be discussing the composition of the physical representation I have made for Ellie. The physical representation features a few symbolic features which include the compass, a woman’s hand, the diverging path and the three distinct sections of the image that have had different textures applied to them. These elements combine to show the changing values and transformations the character experiences as she starts to question her beliefs and begins to make decisions that affect the person that she is. The setting for the physical representation is fitting for the character as it shows Ellie’s natural connection with the land and her unwavering desire to protect it. This is symbolic of her desire throughout the novel to protect her friends, family and her home. The red lines, …show more content…
It is for this reason that I felt Ellie’s characterisation is perfectly symbolic of a navigational compass. Before the war broke out, Ellie had a strong sense of right and wrong as her family always valued truth and trusted Ellie to do the right thing. This is evident when her father entrusts only her to drive the Landrover. Ellie stays true to her family’s wishes, showing maturity and honesty. It is for this reason that the compass positioned in Ellie’s hand is a fitting symbolic reference to her as she always “points north” and uses her morals and her instincts to make good decisions. Her thoughts and values always guide her on her path, even though at times she is uncertain she is making the right decision (as depicted by the blurring of the right-hand side of the image) she continues to hold true to her value set. She used her “moral compass” when making decisions prior to the war in the decisions making process with the group, and she continued this process when she had to make tough decisions in the face of

Artists Gustave Caillebotte and Clide Hassam are rewound painters who spent their careers depicting scenes of everyday life in various levels of impressionism. Combined, the two provide for an excellent comparison of how specific techniques used for their works elicit different emotions and interpretations. Specifically, Caillebotte’s Paris Street: Rainy Day and Hassam’s A Rainy Day of Fifth Avenue capture similar scenarios in roughly an analogous time frame, allowing viewers to focus strictly on the differing techniques used. . From their perspective to color, they are able to evoke feelings of clarity and uncertainty respectfully An important note to mention prior to analyzing the works is to mention that neither artist captured the scene better; neither painting can be objectively considered superior.…

The novel Ella Minnow Pea is clearly a fictional tale, but it is necessary that we take a look at what Mark Dunn meant by the messages in his book. After some complex thought, you should be able to tell this is satire, and there are a ton of forms of satire throughout this book that we should learn from and reexamine our ways of thinking. The first thing Dunn mocks is human’s acceptance of coincidence as “everything happens for a reason”. Now, I personally believe some big things happen for a reason, but to go from an old sign falling apart to forcibly criminalizing certain letters from national lexicon is beyond insane. This is his way of saying “Don’t overthink everything, or else you’ll become a fool”.…

Mary Cassatt was a renowned American painter who created a famous painting known as “The Letter”. At first glance, it portrayed an older women sitting at a desk simply mailing out a letter. After analyzing the painting for some time, I uncovered more then what was seen at first glance. The painting is very unique and was difficult to interpret in the beginning. When I visually analyzed the painting, I saw an older Japanese woman wearing traditional Japanese attire while sitting at what looks like a desk inside of a room.…

Eudora Welty gives purpose and meaning to Old Phoenix’s journey by implementing a deeper meaning within her writing. Because she writes using symbolism within the path, the windmill, and the name phoenix, the reader is able to understand the reasoning of her journey. Welty does not simply describe a woman taking a casual walk in the woods, she describes a woman who has gone through so much and gives her life purpose. For example, symbolism allows people to relate to their own lives, and gives a story a greater meaning beyond what…

Towards the end of the novel, the narrator uses anatomical precision to describe every aspect of Louise’s body. It can arguably be seen as a romantic approach to describing the body of a loved one. However, it greatly varies from the romantic description of the body that most people are used to. The narrator goes inside of Louise’s body to discuss the relationship between her body and the concept of romance and desire.…

For this essay, the artwork chosen is titled Untitled, (I Shop Therefore I Am) by Barbara Kruger. This artwork was created in 1987 using the medium of film in order to capture the image. The subject for this artwork would be issue oriented based on the message displayed. This piece would also be considered to be abstract due to the message that is displayed in the photograph and how it makes itself look different. The artwork itself is what looks to be a reused photo for a previous advertisement many years ago, but the artist used a powerful message to cover up what was being advertised, and used the words “I shop therefore I am” in a giant red textbox with white lettering that is very clear to read when viewing the art up close.…

    The Scream Poem Analysis

“The Scream” I really like this painting because somehow it involves mystery and insecurity and to my eyes, the rare views in it reflect a sense of how deep the feelings and thoughts of a person can be. In addition, the fact that the composition does not allow viewers to appreciate the face of the screaming person, is what has drawn me to it. Even though it seems to be that it was a lovely afternoon for everyone, it seems that it was not for the scared looking person. Although two boats are seen on the lake and two people walking very pleasingly behind, the scared looking person seems to be astonished and perhaps confused toward something. Hence, looking at this mysterious individual posing his hands on his face with his mouth open has given me the impression that he or she is appreciating something non real that no one else is able to notice; no one but him.…
