Training within the course covered equipment, reporting skills and tactical movements. Soldiers were sent to their units requiring very little On the Job (OJT) training upon completion of the course and were both tactically and technically proficient. Establishing a course similar to CEWEOC or Prophet Operator would require additional man power and money, but realistically could be cheaper than an attempt to build tactical training course into existing AIT…

When the JDOC was first formed we only had around 12 senior leaders mostly colonels and three Sergeants Major. The officers were a mixture of Army Soldiers and Air Guard Airmen, who had already taken command, reassigned as an interim assignment to retire, or who were waiting to take a position of increased responsibility. The Enlisted Soldiers were all full time staff employees who had volunteered to work with this group verses working on their normal Monday through Friday assigned duties. During the first meeting, you could see a group of very strong-minded individuals, who all had different ways of thinking. Most officers knew that it was up to the BG Silver to make the call on how we were to proceed.…

The NCOA is composed of dedicated personnel with many strengths, but its NCOs are human and therefore the organization is not perfect. The greatest strength of the Academy is the constant effort to improve training, which ironically leads to one of its greatest weakness. That weakness is communication throughout the execution of the improved training throughout each class.…

Level 1: Reaction Understanding the reactions of the police officers aid in assessing their commitment to the information, if it is pertinent in evaluating if the officers are satisfied with training. Kirkpatrick and Kirkpatrick (2016) stated that while reaction of stakeholders is relevant it is an area that requires the least amount of time and cost, but is necessary to measure the quality and appropriateness of the program among the stakeholders. Reactions of the police officers measure their engagement, satisfaction and importance of the information during the training, a month after the training, and periodically for ongoing effectiveness. Table 8 below list the methods, tools and timing used to measure how the participants react to training and e-learning activities.…
