The musical “Rent” developed by Jonathon Larson, is concerning a group of Bohemians that are struggling to get by in modern day life in New York and gain a friendship stronger than they would have anticipated. The musical was produced in 2005; a period where a numerous amount of the matters that Jonathon Larson contributed into the musical were not acceptable for a movie. The nine characters have a strong friendship between them and individually. Their friendship only gets stronger with each of the struggles they are challenged with. Albeit there are times when their friendship is broken over small matters that they resolve. They have many obstacles that they have to get through throughout the year. There is one instance where a friend of theirs broke his promise to them of living rent free. It shows them how money can affect the way someone you saw as a friend can change the way they look at you. To conclude, the musical “Rent” portrays to the audience the importance of love, friendship, and just how much a loss can affect you. Throughout the obstacles, they are faced with throughout the year and their struggle to pay rent to an old friend, they strive through them and end up stronger and closer than ever.
