Renting a truck and moving yourself is a lot of work, but the effort is worth it when you calculate how much money you save. There are a few things to know about renting a truck if you want to get the best value for your money and have the best experience. You'll especially want to think about the following things if you've never rented a truck before.

Book The Right Size

You can rent trucks in various sizes so you can move your entire home or just a dorm room full of belongings and furniture. Choosing the right size is important because you may have to pay more for larger trucks. Plus, large trucks are more challenging to drive. The rental place can help you decide on the size of truck to rent, but if you want to be exact, you can stack what you want to move in a garage or spare room and then measure the dimensions of the space you need. If it turns out you don't have all that much to move, you might get by with a van or small truck, which would be the most convenient. However, if you want the largest truck you can rent, you want to know that in advance so all your things will fit.

It's good to have a plan ahead of time for how you'll load the truck so you don't waste time loading and unloading to get everything to fit. You want to put large and heavy items in first so they fit against the wall. That includes things like mattresses and bed boards. Also, be sure to buy moving boxes so the boxes are of the same size and sturdy so they stack well.
