Currently the consumption and production of taste materials exceed the necessary amount of land or sea available to absorb the CO2 we are putting out. The required surface space it would take to renew the resources people demand is limited when compared to our population size and generated energy.
As a nation we are very resource-rich when compared to the rest of the world, yet we use twice as many renewable natural

Therefore, by using public transportation or by driving less and using fuel efficient cars you can greatly reduce your carbon footprint and begin in decreasing emissions that are causing climate change. To follow the neo-traditionalist approach more profoundly, you can focus more on walking and riding a bike to replace your fuel using vehicle. You can also decrease your water usage by taking shorter showers and turning off the water when you are not physically using it, along with reusing gray water for non-sanitary means. This is advocated for by the article “Could Food Shortages Bring Down Civilizations” by Lester Brown when he states that in order to restore earth’s natural systems and resources and to stop the fall in water tables we need to raise water productivity: the useful activity that can be wrung from each drop.…

Although some countries have taken leader position in increasing sustainable renewable energy use, Canada would not be considered on of the leaders of this field. Even though they appear to…

The human-caused factors substantially outweigh the natural occurrences in the environment. These factors are defined by the human population, social wants and needs, and the energy used (Tait, Hanna). The innovative technologies used today are greatly depended on because they are what keeps the developing society and economy functioning. It is inevitable that the finite resources and short-term demands of the human population will overwhelm the planet to replenish and provide in order to satisfy the population. As Paul Gilding, a writer, activist, and adviser on sustainability states, “we 've created a little too much stuff -- so much that our economy is now bigger than its host, our planet”.…

Although I agree that the overconsumption in big cities of natural resources is extreme, I can see where the amount of natural resources we receive is necessary because of the amount of people we have in those large cities. Also, it would be a hassle to have a fundamental shift in the global economy. Movements and lifestyle choices to stop overconsumption include: green economics, downshifting, minimalism and much more, but the majority of people are probably not familiar with these movements, therefore, they cannot be applied in everyday…

Resources are a things that should be prized, but they are not treated as such. Conserving these resources has become an issue because the majority of the population looks at it like the more we use the better, forget about the consequences later. Gifford Pinchot, an american forester and politician, once said: "Unless we practice conservation, those who come after us will have to pay the price of misery, degradation, and failure for the progress and prosperity of our day." He is exactly right in this statement. Our current energy uses have caused many problems when it comes to the environment and human health,…
