Inspired by the old Greek’s writings and the Roman’s culture the Renaissance Period deviates from the Medieval Times. In the Medieval Times, all homes lacked the essentials. There were no toilets to flush, no running water to bathe, no electricity, no refrigerator. Laundry was only done a few times a year and the water wasn’t safe to drink. There were laws to say who can wear what and getting married at the ages of 12 and 14 was the norm. The Byzantine arts were mostly paintings of Mary and Jesus and the Catholic Church used the art to inspire religion. The kings and lords lived in castle or manors, the poor lived in small crowded home consisting of one or two rooms. If the poor family owned any livestock, the animals would also live in their homes. The kings and lords normally ate all kinds of food from: meats, vegetables and sweet puddings. The poor ate bread and stew. There were laws created to tell what the rich and poor could wear, this help to distinguish the noble from the poor. The poor had no education, but the rich families paid to send their children to another lord’s home or hired tutors. A Craftsman would be paid for a child to do seven years of apprentice, of which a job skill would be learned. Some churches charged to educate children by teaching them how to read and write Latin. In the Medieval Time painting, the child is sitting in his mother’s arm and the mother is sitting on her chair. The child looks up at his mother and she looks out at you.
