I plan on going to spend my Spring 2016 semester at Providence University in Taiwan. I have seen China twice and would like to broaden my horizons by exploring the culture of its next door neighbor. Providence University’s educational programs is especially accommodating to international students by having a Mandarin Chinese language learning center and a vast majority of their classes in English. In my case, I would be going to to improve my Mandarin language skills. I believe that learning a second language, such as Mandarin is important because I know I will be applying this knowledge I have concurred to propel myself in the multiple dynamics of my life by enabling me to be interconnected with more people at large and also bring me closer to my …show more content…
My intended major was Business, however, I found that my interests are heading towards Stem Cell Science and Environmental Science. I am not sure what path I end up on, but I know three things one; studying abroad will help bridge the gap for me to figure out my intended career path to; studying abroad will enhance the value of my degree, regardless of my career choice and three: being curious will become the flare that aids in creating limitless possibilities. These aspects will help me to become a well-rounded person, create global relationships, and see the world from multiple perspectives. This experiences I believe is of incalculable value because I know I will be working with a wide variety of people in my career and in a variety of environments as well.
I chose to study through my school’s exchange program, ISEP-Exchange because ISEP has a good reputation for trying to measure their cost to my home institution and their staff is very professional. Also, since I am doing the exchange program, I am still considered a student at Edgewood. This allows me to use any outside and Edgewood scholarship/grants to help fund my trip.
